Call for Articles for the Historical Dictionary of Methodism

The editors of the Historical Dictionary of Methodism have issued a call for articles and are inviting members of the IAMSCU network of scholars to contribute to this important publication. The latest edition of the Historical Dictionary was published in 2013, edited by Charles Yrigoyen, Jr., and Susan Warrick. The new editors are Chris Anderson (Theodore Sedgwick Wright Library at Princeton Theological Seminary) and Dr. Jennifer Woodruff (Christian History magazine). They are also updating, broadening, and re-envisioning the book for publication in late 2023 by Rowman and Littlefield.

There are many entries for this dictionary project. Interested authors can see which entries (with word count) are still available at this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RPDXMkuLUPoWpQiyFgTAQZjOt3TLN89Yqf8aaPuEsn8/edit?usp=sharing. For style of writing, you can view sample entries from the 3rd edition of the Dictionary here: https://www.google.com/books/edition/Historical_Dictionary_of_Methodism/aWUYAgAAQBAJ?hl=en

The editors are expecting to receive contributions by March 31, 2022, but are somewhat flexible with this deadline. As compensation for contribution(s), authors will receive a complimentary copy of the book when it is published. For more details, please contact Christopher J. Anderson, Princeton Theological Seminary (christopher.anderson@ptsem.edu) and Jennifer Woodruff Tait, Christian History magazine (jlwt@christianhistoryinstitute.org).
