As part of its ongoing cooperation with Duke University and celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Universidad del Centro Latinoamericano (UCEL) has been promoting a series of joint activities. After a conference on Human Rights, UCEL is promoting an event on Reconciliation, including a lecture by Prof. Dr. Edgardo Colón-Emeric, who is launching his book in Spanish, Hacia la Nueva Creación [Towards the New Creation]. The event held on June 8 in Rosario, Argentina, was hybrid, with participants gathered at the UCEL campus and also online.

The new book reviews the fundamental themes and challenges of the thinking and practice of Methodist Churches worldwide and focuses especially on the Hispanic/Latino(a) perspective. It explores questions such as how the General Rules of the Methodist Church, its sacraments, worship, liturgy, creed, and missional vocation – among many other topics – come together to build the essence of being Church. Edgardo A. Colón-Emeric is Dean of the the Duke Divinity School at Duke University in Durham, NC, United States, where he is also Professor of Reconciliation and Theology. He is also Director of the Center for Reconciliation. The program is sponsored by the Universidad del Centro Latinoamericano (UCEL) and its academic programs: the Wesley Institute and the Center for Human Rights.
