The Philippines Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Seminaries (PAMSCUS), held its first General Assembly on September 25-27, 2019 in Tagaytay City, Philippines. The association was established in 2014 and has been meeting regularly since then with the purpose of building its constituency, organizing its structure, and creating its programs. After all this work, the PAMSCUS Board of Directors issued a call to all members and held its first General Assembly in order to vote on its Constitution, elect members, and address other formalities related to the life of the organization. The President of PAMSCUS is Priscilla Viuya and Homer Wesley Refuerzo is the association’s Secretary.
The main objective of this assembly was to bring together Methodist Educational Institutions in the Philippines to rediscover, rekindle and progressively appropriate the Wesleyan way of education in all levels of education not only to the member institution but to the communities they serve. Based on this general objective, participants were involved in lectures, discussions, moments of worship, and cultural activities. Five Bishops attended the event and gave presentation on academic and theological subjects, lending their support to this important initiative. The association also updated its membership lists and made sure all Methodist-related institutions in the Philippines are in good standing with the association. After discussions, amendments, and revisions, participants approved the new PAMSCUS Constitution and elected the leadership of the association.
