The Board of Directors of the International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU) met in March to discuss various plans and activities. The agenda was packed with various important items, including an initial moment honoring the legacy of two eminent Methodist educators who passed away recently: John B. Cobb, Jr., and Russell Richey. The Board of Directors listened to the remarks presented by the IAMSCU President and Vice-President, and the General Secretary of GBHEM, GBGM, and UMCOR as well as the UMC Ecumenical Officer reporting on the World Methodist Council (WMC). Participants also received reports from the General Secretary, Nominating Committee, MISEN, and the three Strategic Committees working on the Wesleyan Heritage in Education, Institutional Collaborations, and Finance and Sustainability. Most importantly, the Board of Directors spent considerable time discussing the possibility of meeting in Africa in response to an invitation issued by the President of the Africa Association of Methodist Institutions of Higher Education (AAMIHE), Dr. Rosemary Nyarugwe. The Africa Association of Methodist Institutions of Higher Education (AAMIHE) and the Africa Association of United Methodist Theological Institutions (AAUMTI) will have their joint meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 13-16, 2025, and invited IAMSCU to join them. The IAMSCU Board of Directors accepted the invitation and is planning to participate in this meeting in order to learn more about the context of Methodist education in Africa and prepare its next International Conference, which is expected to be held on the African continent in the near future. This will be the topic of the IAMSCU Executive Committee meeting, which is tasked with guiding the preparation of these events.
