IAMSCU is back on track after General Conferences and Assemblies

The International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU) is now moving forward with new energy, starting a new phase and communication initiatives. During the first part of 2024, association leaders have been engaged in various processes, including the creation of new programs and dialogue with members and partners from various traditions. Thus, some reporting remained in the background. In the meantime, however, the association created new programs, received more dues than in the previous year, organized an important international event, and is preparing itself for the future.

IAMSCU was established in 1991 in the context of the World Methodist Council (WMC). The association has an ecumenical character and congregates institutions relate to Churches in the Wesleyan, Methodist, United, and Uniting traditions which are affiliated with the WMC. Therefore, IAMSCU has accompanied the General Conferences of various Churches in 2024 and maintained a dialogue with their Boards of Education, educational leaders, institutions, and other groups. In 2024, there have been General Conferences and Assembly Meetings of the United Methodist Church (UMC), Methodist Church in Britain (MCB), African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), Uniting Church of Sweden, the Uniting Church of Australia, and others. The IAMSCU leadership has accompanied these events and being in conversation with educators in these contexts in order to better understand how the different Churches are continuing to affirm the Wesleyan and Methodist heritage in education worldwide.

Now, informed by the decisions and development in these various bodies and the impact of these decisions on education, IAMSCU is engaging in a new phase and expanding its dialogue with its partners, stakeholders, and members. resuming its communication, and keeping its members informed about new developments.
