The IAMSCU Board of Directors was invited to participate in the Joint Conference of the African Association of Methodist Institutions of Higher Education Meeting (AAMIHE) and the African Association of United Methodist Theological Institutions (AAUMTI), to be held on October 13-15, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The IAMSCU Board of Directors accepted the invitation issued by AAMIHE/AAUMTI and will hold its next Board of Directors meeting in a hybrid format, in the context of the conference in South Africa.
The conference will be held on October 13-15, 2025, at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Center, located near the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. Birchwood provides free transfer between the airport and the hotel, offers both three-star and four-star hotel rooms with free high-speed Wi-Fi and air-conditioning, and includes more than 60 conference venues for multiple events (large and small). The property includes gardens, several restaurants with diversified dining options, spa, gym, pool, and other amenities. The Birchwood Hotel and Conference Center also provides a very safe environment and various services (tours, rentals, car service, etc.). The IAMSCU Board of Directors’ meeting will have a hybrid format, integrating members and guests who will be attending in person, and providing internet connection for those able to attend online. In conjunction with the AAMIHE/AAUMTI Conference, IAMSCU will hold a series of activities – following the model of previous international events:
- October 12: Dinner with members of the IAMSCU Board of Directors (in person)
- October 13: Participation in AAMIHE and AAUMTI meetings as observers (in person)
- October 14: Meeting of the IAMSCU Board of Directors (in person/online)
- October 15: Breakfast with members of the IAMSCU Board of Directors (in person)
IAMSCU will take advantage of the structure provided by the AAMIHE/AAUMTI Conference:

Reservations: To reserve your space, a US$250 dollar deposit will be collected when you begin your registration (the registration site will open on July 15, 2025). The balance due ($550 minus $250 deposit) will be payable when you complete the registration for the Joint AAUMTI/AAMIHE Conference.
