The IAMSCU Board of Directors is having its in-person meeting on August 11, 2024. This meeting will bring the IAMSCU officers together, so they can evaluate the programs being implemented by the association and the progress made since the “Transforming Lives” Conference in the United Kingdom, in 2023.
The meeting will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the Gothenburg Convention Center and the adjacent Gothia Towers Hotel. President Adriana Murriello and the IAMSCU Executive Committee prepared an ambitious agenda which will include not only an evaluation of the various IAMSCU initiatives in the past months, but also plans for the next years, including the location of the next IAMSCU Conference. The meeting is connected with an International Academic Seminar on “Community, Conciliation, and Connectionalism” being promoted b y IAMSCU (August 12-13). After this event, IAMSCU Board members will remain in Gothenburg and attend the World Methodist Conference (August 14-18). All these events will be held at the same location, the Gothenburg Convention Center.
The last time the IAMSCU Board of Directors met in person was in the United Kingdom, on April 29-30, 2023, right after the IAMSCU General Assembly. Since then, the IAMSCU Board of Directors met online three times. Gothenburg has a long history as a center for Methodist education in Sweden and in Scandinavia, so participants in these meetings will have the opportunity to learn more about this tradition. They will also learn more about the Indigenous Peoples in the region, the Sámi.
