IASMCU is receiving “Nominations” for the Association’s Awards

The IAMSCU Board of Directors has issued a public “Call for Nominations” for its awards, which are to be presented by the Association to prominent educators with an outstanding record of contributions to institutions in the Wesleyan and Methodist traditions or to scholarly fields aligned with the spirit and values of Wesleyan and Methodist education worldwide. The awards are selected by the IAMSCU Board of Directors, presented during the IAMSCU Conference, and received by the honorees in person, in an occasion in which they are invited to reflect broadly on their respective fields and connections to IAMSCU. Throughout its history, the association has created three important awards: the Ken Yamada Distinguished Leadership Award (“The Flame of Excellence”), the Almir de Souza Maia Award for Excellence in International Scholarship, and the James T. Laney Global Ethical Leadership Award

Nominations are being sought widely, in a process that reflects IAMSCU’s spirit and commitment to diversity and worldwide representation. The IAMSCU Board of Directors hopes to select one recipient for each award, to be presented at the IAMSCU Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, on August 7-10, 2022. Nominations are to be sent to the IAMSCU Board of Directors and consist of a nomination letter introducing the nominee and justifying the nomination according to the publicized criteria; a detailed curriculum vitae demonstrating the career and achievements of the nominee; and at least two (2) support letters from individuals or institutions attesting to the merits of the nominee. If possible, the awards will be bestowed upon the selected individuals during the IAMSCU Conference, when the awardee will be recognized, given the opportunity to address the IAMSCU Assembly, and honored in a special reception. For details on the nomination criteria, please read the award descriptions on the IAMSCU website: www.iamscu.org. For inquiries or to submit nominations, please contact: iamscu@iamscu.org
