


“The Future of Global Methodist Education: Implementing Strategies for the 21st Century”
The International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU), the National Association of Schools and Colleges of the United Methodist Church (NASCUMC), and the Association of United Methodist Theological Schools (AUMTS) had their last joint meeting in 2011. They are meeting again in 2019 to discuss their future. They will be meeting at Emory University and Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, GA, United States of America on June 23-26, 2019.
The International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU), the National Association of Schools and Colleges of the United Methodist Church (NASCUMC), and the Association of United Methodist Theological Schools (AUMTS) are holding a joint meeting at the Emory Conference Center and Candler School of Theology, Emory University, in Atlanta, GA, United States.
The goal of this meeting is threefold. First, participants will consider shifts taking place within United Methodism and how these may impact educational institutions. Such discussions will inform efforts related to the establishment of collaborative strategic directions for IAMSCU, NASCUMC, and AUMTS, including the implementation of concrete programs and the planning for the 2020 General Conference of the United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, and the World Methodist Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2021. Secondly, members will engage in cross-association discussions related to future initiatives involving activities with regional associations and LEaD Hubs around the world. Third, the meeting will provide significant time devoted to imagining and building collaborations and promoting partnerships among Methodist-related educational institutions worldwide.
Participants in the Joint IAMSCU-NASCUMC-AUMTS Meeting will be staying at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, gathering at Candler School of Theology, connecting with Emory University, and visiting other nearby locations. Participants will be arriving as early as Sunday (June 23). The IAMSCU meeting starts with a dinner on Sunday evening (June 23). The NASCUMC and AUMTS meetings begin on Monday morning (June 24). The Joint IAMSCU-NASCUMC-AUMTS Meeting opens with a morning worship service, followed by plenary sessions, parallel association meetings and an evening dinner on Monday (June 24). Joint activities continue on Tuesday (June 25), including discussions on the future of global Methodist education in the 21st century, definition of strategic actions, and a banquet honoring The Rev. Dr. James T. Laney. The joint meeting and other activities will be concluded on Wednesday afternoon (June 26).
