MISEN has new leadership for 2023-2026

The Methodist International Student Exchange Network (MISEN) concluded a very productive triennium under the leadership of Anne-Marie Bruner-Tracey (formerly at the Centenary College of Louisiana) and Vanessa Martins (formerly at the Methodist University of São Paulo – UMESP), who contributed to the evolution of MISEN in many positive ways between 2020 and 2023. This time coincided with the global pandemic of COVID-19 and MISEN implemented various online projects during this time. This included monthly virtual meetings, events involving students, the Café Alive (an event involving faculty and students from around the world), and also a successful

participation in the IAMSCU Conference in the UK (with two panels discussing the internationalization of Methodist education.

As the MISEN leadership concluded their tenure after the IAMSCU conference, the network initiated a transition process toward a new term. Coinciding with the election of a new IAMSCU leadership, with Adriana Murriello elected as President and many new members being selected for the IAMSCU Board of Directors, MISEN initiated a corresponding renewal process in 2023. After the nomination, election, and appointment of new MISEN officers, the network is already promoting new programs, recruiting new members, and planning new activities. The MISEN leadership is constituted as follows:

  1. Executive Board
  • Convener: Leticia Bourges (UCEL, Argentina)
  • Co-Convener: Michelle Raphoon (LaGrange, USA)
  • Africa Representative: Wehnam Dabale (AU, Zimbabwe)
  • Asia Representative: David Reedy (Aoyama, Japan)
  • Europe Representative: Chloe Green (Roehampton, UK)
  • Latin America Representative: José Marquez (UMAD, Mexico)
  • North America Representative: Sarah McCall (Centenary, USA)
  1. Advisory Board
  • Herman Felton (Wiley College, TX, USA), Chair
  • International Officer: Paul Shew (Aoyama Gakuin, Japan), Co-Chair
  • Rowanne Marie (Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary, South Africa)
  • Saralyn Desmet (Wesleyan College, USA)
  • Kina Mallard (NAAMSCU, USA)
  • Tammy Gieselman (GBHEM, USA)
  • Eduardo Bousson (Nebraska Wesleyan University, USA)

The IAMSCU Executive Committee and the IAMSCU Board of Directors approved the election results and appointed the above-mentioned officers to their respective positions in MISEN for 2023-2026.
