UCEL organizes Virtual Conference on “Human Mobility”

The Faculty of Religious Studies at the University of the Latin American Educational Center (UCEL) in Rosario, Argentina, is organizing a Virtual Pre-Congress to the 2nd International Congress on Human Mobility, which will be held on November 6 and 7, 2025, via the Zoom platform.

The 1st International Congress on Human Mobility was held in 2023 as an event bringing together leaders from around the world, interested in exchanging ideas and discussing progress and challenges around human mobility and migratory processes in Mexico and in other parts of the world. The objective of this international meeting was to create a space for dialogue in which all voices and all perspectives can be heard. The main goal was to support the construction of more inclusive and just societies which address current migratory issues from a more critical perspective. Building on this first event, the 2nd International Congress on Human Mobility will be held on July 22-24, 2026, in Panama City, Panama.

In preparation for this larger event, UCEL is promoting the Virtual Pre-Congress. It involves several organizations, including the World Methodist Council (WMC), the International Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (IAMSCU), the Latin American Council of Methodist Churches (CIEMAL), and the Methodist Church of the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA), the Platform of Protestant and Evangelical Universities in Ibero-American and the Caribbean (QONAKUY), and the Red Cross of Panama, among other partners.

During two days of conferences and panel discussions, participants will share reflections, experiences, and proposals on human mobility, cooperation, and mission, in preparation for the 2nd International Congress, to be held in Panama City from July 22 to 24, 2026. Panel discussions will be held at the following times:

  • 2:00 PM (Central America)
  • 3:00 PM (Panama, Peru, Colombia)
  • 5:00 PM (Argentina, Brazil, Chile)

Each session will last approximately three hours, and the event will anticipate upcoming discussions and strengthen collaboration among universities, churches, faith-based organizations, and international bodies, around the theme “Faith, Dignity, and Justice in Motion.” The discussions will be inspired by the Biblical passage of Leviticus 19:34 – “The migrant is your neighbor, love him” – in order to open paths of hospitality, justice, and hope.
